Do not expect any customer service with Truist if you have a problem. I've been banking with them since they merged with BB&T. We have a jumbo CD, money market, and checking with them. For almost a year, I've had a minor issue with our money market account with regard to a fee they keep charging me. I have gone to their office three times and have called their support line four times. Everyone keeps admitting that this charge is invalid and they will take care of it. It is almost a year later, and the issue is still not resolved. If they can't take care of a minor issue, we no longer have the trust to invest with them. I am in the process of transferring all of our accounts out of Truist. It's truly sad to see how little their customers matter to them.

Tried to open a business account and after two weeks of waiting for a response, I gave up. I provided them with all the necessary paperwork and answered all their questions; no response. Horrible experience.

Avoid! If you make a payment, it doesn't give you a real-time update on any payments made or even show pending until a few days later. Customer service tries but is a mess after their merger. I made a double payment and they mailed me the extra payment amount. The check has now been reissued three times because it's getting mailed to the wrong address. Their app is confusing, and they charge for Zelle. Chase and Bank of America have been a million times more pleasant and easier to deal with.

Horrific bank! By far the worst bank. I signed up with Truist back when it was SunTrust, and at that time, I really enjoyed the bank. My banker, Mr. James, was a breeze to work with, but as soon as they became Truist, the billing ledger became a nightmare. They wait to process transactions, even if the funds are in your account. It never fails, and if something overdrafts, they backtrack charges and add on fees to amounts that you've used your card for days ago. It doesn't make any sense. On top of that, they use an unreliable system to determine if they will waive fees; the answer is always no. I'll be switching banks as soon as possible. I already have a Bank of America account and have never had this problem.

Took over my mother's accounts that she had for decades with Truist and Truist Investment Services. First thing I noticed was that my savings account was earning three times the monthly interest hers was, even though she had more than ten times a higher balance. They held the money unless I coughed up wire transfer fees, or I could withdraw small amounts each week. Contacted Truist Investment Services on 11/8 and told them to take the Required Minimum Distribution from her IRA and put it into her Truist checking account. Never got a 1099-R, so called yesterday. It turns out that yes, they sold funds on 11/15 to cover the distribution, but they also charged a $10 fee on the sale, so after taking their cut they did not have enough cash on hand to make the distribution. Instead of informing me of their error, they sold funds on 11/20 to cover their fee and never made the distribution. Their response? The agent who walked me through this told me I would need to ask the IRS to forgive the penalty, but there was nothing they would do. I asked to speak to a manager, but did not hear back. When I was in the branch trying to close the accounts, I noticed all these nicely done posters about Truist being a place for people to not only bank but to get educated about savings. Just bait to draw in those less financially sophisticated to consume what little they have in fees and underpaying interest. Blazing incompetence meets loan-shark ethics - what a combination!

They rug pulled my checking account bonus at the last minute. I had completed all the qualifications, but because my account briefly had zero dollars in it the days before I got paid, they denied me the promotion, citing that my account "was not in good standing," even though I did everything required for the promotion. Support was of no help, and no courtesy was offered. I closed my account immediately. What a disgusting business!

They use predatory practices to hurt their high risk customer base. They do so by pending charges (while blaiming it on the merchant which is absolutely poistively false) and then bombarding your account with overdraft fees ensuring the higer transactions pending status goes through allowing any and all little charges to accumulate massive amounts of overdraft penalties. They hit me for over 3k in 2 weeks. SO I did it again for much more to offset the amounts they stole from me then never made another deposit again.

My mom moved out of state, and I helped her close her account with Truist after the move because we were told we couldn't do it within the time-frame we had in person before the move. I have been working with customer service for almost two months, and she has yet to receive a check for the remaining balance in her account. Each time I call, I get a different explanation. Even on the same call, I can talk to two different people who will tell me two different things. I have spent over 6 hours on the phone with customer service and their 'online specialists,' and they still have her money. If you use this bank, go in person, close the account, and get all of your money now, if you can, and go to a different bank.

Absolutely horrendous experience. I opened an account and did not have the account number. I assumed a debit card would be arriving; however, they do not mail out debit cards, and you have to request one. So I went to the bank, and they gave me a temporary debit card and called my phone to set up a PIN. It was at that time that I realized my funds had transferred, but I had no way of knowing because I didn't have the account number. Therefore, I couldn't create an online account. Then, once I got the temporary debit card, I got locked out of my account while creating it, which was not due to my error. So I call the number again, and the CSR in India has no idea what I'm saying. Then I get transferred to an American, and he says my phone number isn't associated with my account; the same number they had called less than an hour earlier to create my PIN. I call, and my account is now locked for 24 hours. They cannot transfer any money. They cannot create the online account. So, they have my money and cannot move it to PayPal. None of this was explained when creating the account. Horrendous experience.

Archaic system that is extraordinarily client-unfriendly. The web portal is available to make changes to information, such as mailing addresses, but these changes are not uniformly applied to all accounts, including mortgages. There is no possible way to know that changes have not been applied, and therefore, all mail correspondence will continue to be sent to the original address. I have been trying to get this corrected for a month. Even though Truist claims to understand that they have made mistakes, they will do nothing to expedite corrections. Even something as simple as sending the necessary paperwork by overnight mail rather than sending by regular mail.

This is one bank I hate to deal with. The tellers and customer service both give misleading information. You will need a minimum of 30 minutes to take care of any banking needs. This is the worst bank I've ever dealt with.

Pretty awful bank; I have been lied to by customer service and customer service supervisors. They have made statements about other banks that I also bank with, claiming services don't exist at any major banks, when I know for a fact that other real major banks do offer the services that I was trying to take advantage of through Truist. Just plain out shady; they are not there for their customers.

Truist has honestly been unsatisfactory. I used their services when I lived on the East Coast (while it was still SunTrust) and then moved to Colorado. I never needed a physical branch until I decided to buy a car. It turned into a nightmare, with transfer limits, sign-on issues, and terrible customer service. I attempted to close my account multiple times, and they kept suspending it instead. Whenever I tried to transfer to an external account, my account would suddenly get suspended.
Truist is unacceptable.

The easiest way you can redeem SunTrust (now Truist) rewards is by logging in to your online account and navigating to the rewards redemption section of their website. You can also redeem rewards through the Truist mobile app or by calling the Rewards Redemption Center at (800) 255-7125. But if you redeem for travel over the phone, there's a $25 service fee.
SunTrust (now Truist) Rewards Redemption Options
- Statement credit
- Cash back
- Travel purchases
- Gift cards
- Merchandise
- Event tickets
If you redeem credits from any Truist credit card for a deposit into your Truist personal checking, savings or money market account, you'll get a “Loyalty Cash Bonus.” The bonus could be 10%, 25% or 50% of your redemption, depending on the balances in all your Truist accounts. Higher balances mean a higher bonus. Cash redemptions into a Truist deposit account are always worth more than getting a normal statement credit.
If you have any trouble redeeming your rewards, call Truist rewards customer service at (800) 255-7125.

How much is the Truist overdraft fee?
Reply
Lauren Smith, WalletHub Staff Writer
@laurenellesmith
Truist does not charge an overdraft fee because it will not approve transactions that would overdraw your account. If you want to avoid having transactions get declined due to insufficient funds, you could sign up for the Truist overdraft protection service. This allows you to transfer funds from a linked Truist deposit account, credit card, or line of credit to cover the purchase. Truist does not charge a fee for this service.

No, there aren't any BB&T business rewards cards available right now. BB&T is now part of Truist Bank, so the closest you'll get to a BB&T business card is the Truist Business Credit Card, which does not offer rewards. The card offers an intro APR of 0% for 12 months on purchases, followed by a regular APR of 15.49%-24.49% (V).
To get rewards, you could use a general-consumer credit card from Truist Bank for business expenses. Plus, other...

No, BB&T does not offer any student credit cards. It is also worth mentioning that BB&T is now part of Truist Bank. However, if you're not set on this issuer, there are plenty of excellentstudent credit card optionsfrom other issuers to choose from. Student cards are also fairly easy to get, and terms and features are typically superior to those on traditional cards for people with limited credit.

The usual SunTrust balance transfer fee is 3% (min $10) of the amount of the transfer, whichever is greater. However, they do have a card that doesn't charge a balance transfer fee, and that's the SunTrust Prime Rewards Credit Card. You will need to have excellent (750+) credit to get it.
If you are looking to transfer a balance, some credit cards have no balance transfer fees. But sometimes, the best balance transfer credit cards will come with a longer 0% introductory APR period that warrants a balance...
