April 12, 1963 – May 14, 2024
John Beresford Moore, a lifelong resident of Churches Island, passed away on May 14, 2024, at the age of 61 due to heart complications.
John is survived by his sister, Sonja L. Gibbs; his daughters, Amanda Moore and Kimberly Moore; his sons-in-law, Adam Crum and Mike Jucksch; and his grandsons, Mason Crum, Jayden Falgout, Braylen Torres, and Hudson Crum. He was predeceased by his parents, Helen Halstead and James A. Moore; and his brother, James “Jimmy” Moore.
John was born in Bethesda, MD, on April 12, 1963, to Helen Halstead and John Moore. He attended the University of Delaware in 1985 and worked as a satellite technician for Dish Network for many years. He loved being on the water and building docks and bulkheads for his community. John had two daughters that he cherished deeply. He was a dedicated Paw Paw and friend to all. He never met a stranger.
John would say his greatest accomplishment in life was his family. His sister, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and friends were his pride and joy. He was a coach for his grandson’s football team and would frequently be seen cheering them on at their baseball games.
John loved the Washington Commanders and made sure everyone knew it. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed crabbing and thought that the ocean was home. Trump was his hero, and he was an active supporter. He was the most neighborly person you would ever meet. His handyman skills were always appreciated by his friends and family, as he often spent time devoted to helping others.
He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
The family welcomes everyone to honor the life of John on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Twiford Colony Chapel in Manteo. A gathering to share memories will begin at 1:00 pm followed by a service at 2:00 pm. After the service, everyone is invited to continue celebrating with the family (details to be announced). For those wishing to honor John with flowers, they may be purchased through Rogue Flower Company.
