‘Twisted Kingdom’ by Rina Kent – A Book Lovin' Mama's Blog (3)

The kingdom isn’t supposed to fall.
The truth screws you over before it sets you free. Masks drop. Secrets unravel. Elsa’s race after the past blinds her from the present. I’ll fight for her. I’ll bring her back. I’ll protect her even if it’s the last thing I do. We made a promise. She’s mine. Are you ready for one final game, sweetheart?
Twisted Kingdom is book three of Royal Elite Series and should be read after Deviant King & Steel Princess. This is a dark high school bully romance, mature new adult, and contains dubious situations that some readers might find offensive.
This book is the final part of a trilogy and is NOT standalone.

Twisted Kingdomis the last book in Aiden and Elsa’s trilogy, and after reading that jaw-dropping cliffhanger fromSteel Princess, I needed answers. Rina Kent definitely knows how to write some gritty, dark storylines that keep you on the edge, and she also knows how to write some ‘OTT’ (Over The Top) jealous/possessive anti-heroes like Aiden King.

Steel PrincessandTwisted Kingdomnot only answeredmy burning questions about Elsa and her memoriesbut also took me on anemotional rollercoaster.RinaKent’s narrative ofhow Aiden and Elsafirstmet in the pastis a heart-wrenching tale thatis not for the faint of heart.I found myself sympathizing withboth characters for different reasonsand gained a deeper understanding of Aiden’s initial reaction to Elsa inDeviant King.

Twisted Kingdomdelves deepintothedark pastofElsa’s family, unearthing secrets that someone desperately tried to keep hidden. It alsoconfronts the reasons behind Aiden’sfather’s disapprovalof his relationship with Elsa,a conflict thatAiden isdeterminedtoovercome.Aiden’s futureplans are intricately tied toElsa,a promisehe madeyears agothat he’snow desperately trying to get her to remember, adding a layer of suspense and mystery to the narrative.

Aiden became a different person in this book becoming more protective and worried about Elsa, but he still was a walking red flag. I definitely understood him a lot better after this book and everything he went through. Elsa changed a bit, too, and it’s all due to someone coming back into her life and shaking things up. I now understood why Aiden’s father and Elsa’s father had a feud years ago.

I was glad that Elsa and Aiden finally found their HEA and that Elsa found out the truth, but I felt there was a lot of repetition and that things were rushed, especially when it came to the long-standing conflict between the Kings and Steels. I still enjoyed the book; it just won’t be a favorite.

I’m ready for the next storyline that involves Xander and Kim. Rina has been teasing me about these two sinceDeviant King, and I need to know why they hate each other. Rina definitely has a new fan, and I can’t wait to continue reading this series, plus every book she’s ever written.

‘Twisted Kingdom’ by Rina Kent – A Book Lovin' Mama's Blog (5)

Rina Kent is an international bestselling author of everything enemies to lovers romance.
Darkness is her playground, suspense is her best friend, and twists are her brain’s food. However, she likes to think she’s a romantic at heart in some way, so don’t kill her hopes just yet.
Her heroes are anti-heroes and villains because she was always the weirdo who fell in love with the guys no one roots for. Her books are sprinkled with a touch of mystery, a healthy dose of angst, a pinch of violence, and lots of intense passion.
Rina spends her private days in London daydreaming about the next plot idea or laughing like an evil mastermind when those ideas come together.

I guess I should type a bio here. I'm FranJessca, or Fran for short. I'm the owner/reviewer behind A Book Lovin' Mama's Blog. I've been reading and reviewing books on my blog since leaving the Navy in 2011, and I will keep doing it as long as possible. My favorite genres will always be Romance & Fantasy, and I read every subgenre underneath those two genres. (Sorry, not a fan of nonfiction, so don't try to convince me to read it.)
My obsession with reading started over 30+ years ago when I went to my first Scholastic Book Fair and found R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. Later, I came across Anne Rice's novels at my public library when I was fourteen when my obsession with vampires started. I was the girl who preferred to be a vampire over a princess any day. My husband says I would leave him a heartbeat for a vampire that looked like Spike or Angel (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. (It's true, though, and he's accepted it.)
