Nikki Glaser and her sister, Lauren Glaser, are two peas in a pod — literally!
The Glaser sisters were born just 18 months apart in Cincinnati, Ohio, before their parents, EJ and Julie Glaser, relocated the family to St. Louis, Mo., where Lauren and her husband have since planted roots of their own.
Lauren is a mother of three, whose children have made rare appearances on their famous aunt’s Instagram page.
Despite having a comedian and reality star as a sister, Lauren admitted that she often forgets that Nikki is a celebrity to the outside world. Because to her, Nikki is just her older sister who also happens to be funny.
“It’s really interesting because I don’t think of her as famous when we’re talking one on one,” Lauren said in a 2018 interview. “But when I see how other people perceive her, like when we’re out in public and I’ll see other people recognize her and they sometimes come up and ask for a picture, it puts it into perspective for me how well known she actually is.”
However, Nikki isn’t the only creative one in her family. En route to Austria to see Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert, the sisters rewrote the lyrics to “Cruel Summer” after it was revealed that the singer’s shows in Vienna had been canceled. Their viral airport performance was captured on Nikki’s Instagram.
Here’s everything to know about Nikki Glaser’s sister, Lauren Glaser, and their tight-knit relationship.
Nikki and Lauren were born 18 months apart
Nikki was born on June 1, 1984, in Cincinnati to EJ and Julie Glaser. However, just 18 months later, Nikki was promoted to big sister with the addition of her sister Lauren, who came into the world on Jan. 7, 1986.
While appearing on the Fathering Excellence podcast, EJ said “it was crazy times for a while there,” having two young kids “within 18 months of each other.”
Being so close in age, Nikki and Lauren experienced a lot of the same life stages together growing up. In her Netflix comedy special, Nikki Glaser: Bangin’, the comedian teased that she was often viewed as “the second prettiest sister” as a kid.
“I had a really beautiful sister growing up. She was so stunning, she would literally stop traffic when I pushed her in front of it and tried to get her out of the way,” she joked to a live audience.
Nikki and Lauren were raised in St. Louis
While their mom’s side of the family still resides in Cincinnati and it’s where they were born, Nikki and Lauren consider St. Louis their home. The Glasers relocated to Missouri for EJ’s job in the early ‘90s when the two sisters were kids.
“I felt so horrible taking them away from their grandparents and all the support system we had in Cincinnati,” EJ admitted during his appearance on Fathering Excellence. However, the transition proved seamless for both Nikki and Lauren.
“Nikki’s first week, she was going ice skating on that Saturday and spending [the night] at a friend’s house. She just transitioned very smoothly, as did Lauren. Lauren was in preschool. She loved her new preschool and had friends right away. It worked out well,” he continued.
Thirty years later, their parents still reside in St. Louis — and now, Lauren is raising her family there, too.
Lauren married her husband Matt Green in 2013
The couple tied the knot in August 2013, with Lauren having previously shared her first photo on Instagram of Green in 2011.
On X, Nikki documented her sister’s big day with a funny snap of her and Lauren goofing off during family photos.
Lauren is a mother of three
Lauren and her husband have welcomed three children together, with EJ often sharing snaps on Instagram of his grandkids.
While Nikki doesn’t call the kids out by name in her comedy, she has publicly praised Lauren for being an amazing mom.
“My beautiful, kind, smart, and hilarious sister, Lauren, who also happens to be the best mother I’ve ever witnessed. Your kids are so damn lucky. I love you,” Nikki wrote in a birthday post to Lauren on Facebook in 2022.
Lauren is a high school Spanish teacher
After graduating from Kirkwood High School in 2004, Lauren returned to her alma mater to teach Spanish. In a joint interview with the school’s online newspaper, The Kirkwood Call in 2018, Nikki raved about how “very proud” she is of her sister’s profession and the impact she’s made on their hometown.
“I’m so proud of her for being a teacher there. I know it’s very hard, and she’s very good at it,” remarked Nikki, a fellow KHS alumni.
Lauren is proud of her big sister, too. “It’s hard, especially being a teacher. [I] want to be like, ‘You guys should check out my sister,’ and [I’m] so proud of her and you want to share it with everyone but the content sometimes is a little inappropriate for high school,” she added.
Nikki has a close relationship with Lauren’s husband
Nikki and Green have a special bond. While hosting Green on her podcast, the comedian described her brother-in-law as “one of the funniest people I know.”
“I know that’s setting you up to fail and you can’t live up to that, but you’re just naturally are. Everybody knows that about you,” she said on The Nikki Glaser Podcast in 2023. “You’re one of the best people I know.”
Green even appeared alongside Lauren, Nikki, EJ and Julie on an episode of Family Feud in 2023, where they competed against Bebe Rexha's family.
